Research and Sky Science

May everyone have a restful and delightful Teacher's Convention (Thursday and Friday, February 11th -12th) and Family Day (Monday, February15th)!

As we move from studying our government structures and systems, we were building knowledge of democracy so that we can explore Ancient Athens and the Iroquois Confederacy. We will be delving into these topics after Family Day. In mathematics we are exploring more deeply into the meaning of fractions to help us understand the processes of converting mixed numbers to improper fractions, and improper fractions into mixed numbers. In Science we are preparing to conclude or Sky Science investigations as we look forward to moving into air and aerodynamics.

End of Term and a New Beginning

As of February 1st, we will be starting a new term, which means we have a fabulously fresh start to our learning adventures!

Thank you for all of the work and learning that has been taking place! It is exciting to see the depth of thinking shift as students begin to explain more in their thinking and giving more evidence to support their ideas and perspectives. Please keep up the outstanding work!

On Monday, we will have a new Google Classroom. Everyone has been sent an invitation to the new Google Classroom, and there is also a link to enrol within our current (soon to be old Google Classroom), just in case. Our current Google Classroom will be closed by the end of next week, but students will still have access to all of their work, as it is all current within their Google Drives, not to worry.

Over the last two weeks students have created star watchers, modelled and ate a moon phase cookie adventure, and learned about a new artist to design creative, humanistic, and cartoon like cities based on work by James Rizzi. Here are a few photos of student work:
